Kurt Schwitters / Andre Servais / Pinchas Shaar

Kurt Schwitters

This international renownde artist could have been the creator
of this mixed media piece for which he became famous but to
be honest we do not know for sure.

To us the work itself seems to be more convincing than the
signature placed underneath it. A remark has to be made
as this work has been shortened on two sides what proba-
bly caused the disappearance of the original signature.

Andre Servais

Several belgium based painters were periodically
involved in the surrealistic style of which Paul
Delvaux and René Margritte are so well known.
André Servais, who is a gifted artist, is not widely
known as a surrealistic painter but in this work he
really succeeded in creating a strange atmosphere:
What has happened? Is the café still open?
Oil on canvas: Dimensions 70 / 100 cm.

The subtle colour approach can be studied here.
You are able to click on the picture to enlarge it.

And the different colors blue are playing an important
role in this work on canvas. Stil in remarkable condition!

And the city in the back of which only the contours
are present but it is there.

Pinchas Shaar

Being a guitarplayer myself I really had to
obtain this work. Typical for his style.
Mixed media. Dimensions: 30 - 40 cm.

Allways joyful in a direct recognizable way this
accordeonplayer is another work by this israelian
artist. It is not surprising that his work keeps
popping up in Belgium as he stayed there for
quite a while in his career and had several
expositions. Work on paper: Mixed techniques.
Dimensions 30 / 40 cm.

It is always stunning to ee how Shaar manages to
integrate the sticked pieces of paper he uses in his
work. This is a very good example of it. And we
think he made these kind of works a lot in the
period 1968 / 1969. Work on paper. Mixed
techniques. Dimensions: 30 / 40 cm.

And finally we were able to obtain an oil on canvas work.
Again a guitar player in beautiful colors. One of his better
works and a keeper anyway. Oil on canvas. Dimensions:
30 / 40 cm.

As the signature already attests, this work is also from 1968.
We think he was into musicians at that time!
