Paule Nolens

Paule Nolens is a woman painter from Hasselt (Belgium).
A nice very direct style. Work on paper.
Dimensions: 25 - 35 cm

Diana Nooten / Marcel Notebaert / Daniël Onukpa

This dutch woman painter really made a variety of work.
It is allways moving and smashing around and therefore
it has the elements of this time.
A remarkable paintress for me!

Marcel Notebaert

A strange move within the Belgium art world that
in fact excels in diversity. Marcel Notebaert is presented
here with a strong watercolor that is part of his
work in the fantastic and surrealistic world.

A detail is presented here that is betraying his great
skills and without being just a refined copyist he is
able to tell us a story as well!

Notebaert or Notebart simply signed his work with "Noteb"
as this work and others show. A comic feature here is that
the dog welcomes the new visitors as there are only his
traces that lead towards the figures in the foreground.
The visitors still have to check in!

Daniël Quartay Onukpa

These works have accurateness as well as power
once you are standing ion front of them. They were
made on a cheap kind of cotton on a non adjustable
frame. I placed them on a wooden panel that I
thickened at the edges so they are able to last for
a longer time.

This second work was offered at the same auction and
my daughter was blown away by these works. That's
why we decided the give them both as a present for
her birthday.

Much can be told about the symbols in these works
but we haven't been able to find more information
about this unknown painter.

The back of this cotton has been copied and placed on the back
of both panels. There is no need for future owners to explore
these works once again.

Teruo Onuma / Beatrice Papeians de Morckhoven / Antoine van de Pas

This artwork is called "Roulette of Playing cards".
Born in Tokio (Japan) 4 april 1933.
Lives and works in Amsterdam. Education:Tokyo
University of Arts, also studied at the Rijks-
akademie Amsterdam. Uses different techniques
as Oil, watercolour and drawings.
Member of the Kokuga-Kai in Japan.
Work on panel. Dimensions: 100 / 100 cm.

This belgium based artist has been described as one of the
more promising young artists however acceptance by the
public never took place. For those who are willing to
let themselves move by her subtle approach there is
a lot to win. Work on paper: Crayon. Dimensions 40 / 60 cm

Antoine van de Pas (1941 -

Marcel Plancke / André POFFÉ (1911-1990) / Peter Prins / Jean Claude Reynal / Thomas Roman

This very intriguing threedimensional work is in fact
oil on canvas. How the artist did this still remains a secret.
A modern work that remains a one of a kind in
the art world. I've never seen anything like this.
Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 100 / 100 cm.

Andre Poffe (1911 - 1990)

This painting has been done by Andre Poffe, a painter
from Brussels (Belgium) were he worked a lot in and
around that city.  Here he has a little bit a kind of sur-
realistic apprach and this painting has been done with
great skills. Oil on canvas. Dimensions 70 / 100 cm.

Some details that deserve attention. This one
has been done in the neighbourhood of Leefdael.

And another nice shot of the water.

A third detail with a strange kind of buidling on the right.

The signature which always is: "Poffe".

Peter Prins

Working in crayon this dutch based artist conquers
the world! His works can be found everywhere.
And indeed. It is always challenging!
Work on paper. Dimensions: 25 / 30 cm.

As his signature states. Peter made this work in 1990.
When you are interested you can visit his website to
see more of his works.

Jean Claude Reyna

Jean Claude Reynal ment a lot for the French artworld during his
short life. He worked in various ways and not only abstract. By
doing so, he gave birth to a new generation of  Graphic designers
and in France there still exists the Jean Claude Reynal prize.
Work on paper. Dimensions: 25 / 35 cm.

And of course for those who are investigating their
artwork a picture of his signature.

Thomas Roman

"Free Love" is the title of this work.
Though there is a lot to be seen the overall composition
is still there. His positive way of drawing gives it it's power.
Work on paper. Dimensions: 40 - 50 cm.

This one is called Troje. An artist that made all
kinds of artwork but allways recognizable.
Work on paper. Dimensions: 40 / 60 cm.

And at last we were able to obtain a genuine oil on canvas
by this artist. It has everything to do with Greec myths.
Oil on canvas: Dimensions: 40 / 50 cm.

H. Ramaker / Alain Raya Sorkine / Anita Rosquir

H. Ramaker

Alain Raya Sorkine (1936)

Alain Raya Sorkine was a french born artist that
signed his works with his mothers' name. The subject
he choses often are musicians and mostly are jewish.
The colours however are mostly much brighter and
more joyful. Wether if this is an original work we
still have to investigate but there are some "darker'
works around 1969. Above the signature some
Israelic prefixes can be seen. We still have to investigate
what the exact meaning is. Work on paper.
Dimensions 30 / 40 cm.

On the official Raya Sorkine website there is a letter written by
the artist and the signature at the end has some resemblance.
And after E-mailing this 77 years old artist he allmost immediately
stated it to be one of his earlier works. That was good news!

Anita Rosquir

A joyful picture with beautiful colours.
Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 50 / 80 cm.

Samuel Saghatelian / Arie Sartani / Johnny Schuddeboom

Samuel Saghatelian ( 1961 -

A nice and intriguing work by the Armenian artist
Samuel Saghatelian who is living and working in
the USA. Most of his works are mixed media, some-
times on paper and sometimes on canvas as is the
case here. Dimensions: 80 / 80 cm.

By studying some details of this work the use of pieces
of paper and even wood dust (above)  can be discovered.
The surrealistic influence in most of his works is present
here though he seems to return to a more realistic
approach. This artist was an architect at first.

And again layers of paper on this work. It is obvious that
Saghatelian did put a lot of work in this painting and did
this with a meaning. Alas, we weren't able to discover what
exactly was written on the back...

A bit hard to see but that has everything to do with the intense
color blue Saghatelian uses here. Written in red and hardly
detectable something written in black underneath the signature.

For those who want to investigate more. Presented here is the
text on the back. The Schlepper firm was responsible for the
encadrement of this painting: Very professionally done.

Arie Sartani ( 1920 -

At first we were unknown about this work being an
original work by Arie Sartani. However googling on his
name proved this to be another work from his hand though
signed in a different way. Concerning the fact that this
is yiddish art another way of signing can be expected.
This has been signed in hebrew. Work on canvas.
Dimensions: 73,5  / 92,5 cm.

As has been told already this work has been signed in
hebrew opposite to the works he made from Jeruzalem.
Reason for this move could be that he made the Jeruzalem
paintings for the international (and touristic) market.

Johnny Schuddeboom

This painter often worked in an expressionistic style
later in his life. However quality wasn't always there.
Sometimes things are coming "together" in a rather
small work as is the case here to our believe.

Some nice details and thway he worked with pallet
knife is obvious and by using different colours on
it you never know exactly how things will come out.

His signature that is hardly readable if you
do not know what has to be there! Work on
board. Dimensions: 23 / 40 cm.

Kurt Schwitters / Andre Servais / Pinchas Shaar

Kurt Schwitters

This international renownde artist could have been the creator
of this mixed media piece for which he became famous but to
be honest we do not know for sure.

To us the work itself seems to be more convincing than the
signature placed underneath it. A remark has to be made
as this work has been shortened on two sides what proba-
bly caused the disappearance of the original signature.

Andre Servais

Several belgium based painters were periodically
involved in the surrealistic style of which Paul
Delvaux and René Margritte are so well known.
André Servais, who is a gifted artist, is not widely
known as a surrealistic painter but in this work he
really succeeded in creating a strange atmosphere:
What has happened? Is the café still open?
Oil on canvas: Dimensions 70 / 100 cm.

The subtle colour approach can be studied here.
You are able to click on the picture to enlarge it.

And the different colors blue are playing an important
role in this work on canvas. Stil in remarkable condition!

And the city in the back of which only the contours
are present but it is there.

Pinchas Shaar

Being a guitarplayer myself I really had to
obtain this work. Typical for his style.
Mixed media. Dimensions: 30 - 40 cm.

Allways joyful in a direct recognizable way this
accordeonplayer is another work by this israelian
artist. It is not surprising that his work keeps
popping up in Belgium as he stayed there for
quite a while in his career and had several
expositions. Work on paper: Mixed techniques.
Dimensions 30 / 40 cm.

It is always stunning to ee how Shaar manages to
integrate the sticked pieces of paper he uses in his
work. This is a very good example of it. And we
think he made these kind of works a lot in the
period 1968 / 1969. Work on paper. Mixed
techniques. Dimensions: 30 / 40 cm.

And finally we were able to obtain an oil on canvas work.
Again a guitar player in beautiful colors. One of his better
works and a keeper anyway. Oil on canvas. Dimensions:
30 / 40 cm.

As the signature already attests, this work is also from 1968.
We think he was into musicians at that time!
